Day One.

For those of you who already know me, welcome to my "Grow Internship" Blog. For those of you who don't, allow me to introduce myself and what I'm doing here. I'm Christina Conduit. I come from a small town, but I've got big dreams and I tend to think outside the box. This blog will record my adventures during the Grow Internship, which I'm a part of for the next 9 months. It takes place at Faith Family, my home church. The point of the internship is to grow my relationship with God, become a better leader, to learn more about how to work in ministry, and how to reach others more. Though there's more than that to it, those are the basics. If you're not already bored, maybe you'll enjoy this blog, because it's going to get way more exciting as it goes on. If you'd like to hear more about who I am personally, I'd suggest you check out my other blog http://christinaconduit.blogspot.com/. Anywho, without further ado, I shall go ahead and rant about day one of GROW.

Grow Internship 9/19/11
I walked into the church today. More nervous than I've ever been walking into the church. After finding out where to go, I started to head that way and ran into my friend Amy, who is also in GROW. She started to rant and ramble about how awesome internship will be, and got me more fired up than I already was. So after about bursting from excitement, we headed to the room. Desks. Chairs. A few other people. Seven people to be exact. I soon realized, these were the other interns. Seven of us. Taking on this year together, and doing big things for God together. Becoming family. And I couldn't help but laugh to myself. Such an odd group of people to put together. Two of them already leading in the church, one very ambitious with nearly 3 jobs, one who doesn't know exactly why she's there, another who I hardly know anything about, and one who has tried everything else and found himself here. And then there's me. Little ol' me. Just Christina. As my thoughts lingered, Pastor Jordan entered the room and began to speak. He shared with us a lot of what would be going on for the next nine months. And I'll be honest, a lot of it scared me. He said people's toes will be stepped on. Secrets will come to light. All of the junk inside will come out, and it'll all change. Amy caught my eye and I looked over at her. We gave each other terrified looks and then looked back to Pastor Jordan. I smiled confidently. Regardless of everything, this year will take me to another level, I'll be new I'll be changed. And who wouldn't want that if it's for the better? After getting our schedules for the year and (gulp) introducing and sharing about ourselves, we headed to lunch. After all was said and done there, we headed back to the classroom for our first and only class of the day. Derrick was teaching it. I wouldn't really call it a class though. The point of it was to find out what kind of 'learner' we are, so we could know how to learn throughout the year. I found out I'm in the 5%(figures, I'm an oddball) of the intuitive feelers. Meaning I learn best through visual type stuff. Meaning, pictures, sounds, ect. And those type of learners generally have the job of an artist, any kind of artist really. Painter, musician...And I knew it was me. So, there's that. Then before being dismissed, we were given a paper to fill out.

"Goals for this year: Grow in my relationship with God, become a better leader, lead more people to Christ, become more outgoing...

Vision(five years from now): A Way Eternal (AWE) ministries, running strong. Having a whole youth center with a cafe, having concerts, bible studies, ect. Lead by Christina(me), Darius, and Tessa."

There were more things to fill out, but I honestly can't remember them. We had to give the papers back to Pastor Jordan. He's putting them away until the end of internship, and then
we're filling out new ones on the last day, and comparing them to our old ones. I feel silly for
all of my answers because he's going to read them, but oh well's. Oh, AWE is the band I'm in,
in case anyone was lost there. Darius and Tessa are the other members, I heart them greatly.
But yeah, after that we were given a ton of books and dismissed. I'm shaking in my boots
but I'm ready for tomorrow.

P.s. They made me answer questions. I'm quite shy.
Guess this will be the start of breaking me out of my comfort zone.
